My Power Word & Plan For 2018

I’ve noticed that many of my blogging buddies have chosen a special and positive word for the new year. I don’t know if you are familiar with that practice, but apparently, it’s suppose to be a personal desire or a word that propels one into a positive frame of mind. Well, I’m all about the positive and I have given some thought to a word that I would like to carry me through 2018 and I want to share it with you. Of course, I want to share it with you, I share almost everything with you. 🙂 So drum roll please…my power word for 2018 is “Prosper.”

Now I know what you are thinking, Clearissa is all about money. Well, of course, I have to make a living and I want to be financially comfortable, but prosper is about much more than finances. The formal definition of prosper(ing) is:

-to succeed in an enterprise or activity; especiallyto achieve economic success

-to become strong and flourishing

-transitive verb Webster.com

-to cause to succeed or thrive

-Archaic. to make successful or fortunate. Dictionary.com

When I was reading the definitions for prosper(ing), of course, I thought of a flourishing blog that is economically successful. Yes indeed, because I want that. But I also thought of other ways that I can flourish/prosper in 2018. Below are just a few:

Spiritually:

In 2018 I want to flourish/prosper spiritually. I want to rededicate time and heartfelt dedication to reading my devotionals, spending more time reading my Bible, attending Bible Study with other spiritually like-minded individuals. I would love to look back on 2018 at the end of the year and see that I have been prospered spiritually.

Gratefulness:

During this year I want to remember to be humble and grateful. We often take, what we consider, little things for granted – good health, a loving spouse, a roof, employment, food, clothing, children, grandchildren, friends, and so much more. Because most of us have these things or at least some of them, we sometimes forget to just take a moment to feel grateful and to express that gratitude in some way. Be it praising a higher power, in my case God, or giving back to the community and sharing what we have with those less fortunate, we should be grateful. I vow to manifest my gratitude by writing one thing every day that I am grateful for. One positive thing in my life each day. I am certain that with all that I have been blessed with, I can find one thing per day to acknowledge.  I have created a downloadable “gratitude journal page” that is yours for free. It is an 8.5 x 11 page that you can print. Having a tangible printed copy may be helpful in reminding you to keep up with the challenge. Oh, did I mention this is a challenge? 🙂 I challenge you to find one thing to be grateful for each day as well. I don’t want you to just think about it. I want you to write it down as a reminder of all that we have that is positive in our lives.

I am thinking of creating a Gratitude Group on Facebook. The concept will be simple. Just drop by once daily and leave a comment indicating one thing you are grateful for that day. Think of how uplifting it will be to connect with other grateful folks and to read and perhaps relate to what they are grateful for as well. Leave a comment and let me know if this is something you would be interested in. In 2018 I want to prosper in gratefulness.

Giving Back:

Finally, in the spirit of gratitude and because I feel that I am so very blessed, I want to share with others. Recently I have volunteered a few hours, on Saturdays, at our local Interfaith Food Shuttle. I don’t go every Saturday, maybe once or twice a month but I would like to continue donating my time by volunteering there at least once a month. My church has all sorts of ministries and causes that are just waiting for someone to join and volunteer their time. I may not join additional ones, but I do vow to rededicate myself and become more involved in the one that I am already a member of. Giving back does not mean overwhelming yourself because if overwhelmed, it becomes a job and you may become resentful. No, giving back should be enjoyable and make you feel good. So a few hours here and there, but consistently is my goal.

I am also going through and purging every drawer and closet in my house and I will donate all of the things that I can no longer use to a charitable organization. Did I say EVERY drawer and closet? Yepper, I sure did. 🙂 I want to prosper in giving back in 2018.

The Finale:

That’s it friends. My intentions and my power word for 2018. Now that I have shared my intentions with you, I expect you to hold me accountable. Throughout the year, ask me if I am keeping up my end of the bargain. Check in and let me know how well you are doing with the challenge (see how I just expect you to take on this challenge with me) as well. 🙂 We can keep each other motivated.I am going to start a couple of hashtags to go along with this challenge. They are “#prosper & #prosperous”. Whenever you refer to our challenge, please use the hashtags.

It is my intention to use those hashtags on every post, share, comment, tweet, stumble…well you get the picture for in 2018. That will keep the challenge at the forefront of my mind. You can hold me accountable for that as well. 🙂

Again, I will say, yes, I want to prosper economically, who doesn’t? But there is much more to being prosperous than a large bank account. Do you agree?

So, what do you think? Do you have a power word for 2018? Will you accept the challenge and come with me on my journey of prosperity?

What a wonderful word — Prosper. It holds so much meaning. I am looking forward to hearing about your progress throughout 2018. I’m also interested in the Gratitude Group. I’d love to participate. Thanks Clearissa! Have a happy and prosperous day!

  2. Clearissa Coward says:

Awww thank you Christie. I have had a prosperous/productive day. It’s really snowy and cold here so I can’t go anywhere. 🙂 I think Prosper is a wonderful word as well. I hope you have had a productive/prosperous day as well.

I love the idea of a gratitude Facebook group! It’s disheartening to scroll past so many complaints and gripes. And “prosper” is a fabulous word choice!

  4. Clearissa Coward says:

Hi Stacey, I am tired of so much negativity as well. It sort of sucks you into it doesn’t it. So I am hoping a gratitude group will do the same. I will post a blog once I get it started and I look forward to see you there.
