How To Find Peace Admid Chaos
A Lot Going On Around Us: How to Deal with Anxiety
Life can feel overwhelming, especially when there’s so much happening around us. Whether it’s world events, personal struggles, or just the busyness of life, anxiety can creep in and make everything feel heavy. If you’ve been feeling anxious, you’re not alone. The good news is that there are ways to manage anxiety and find peace amid chaos.
- Acknowledge Your Feelings
The first step in managing anxiety is recognizing it. Instead of ignoring or suppressing it, acknowledge how you feel. It’s okay to admit when you’re overwhelmed. Write it down, talk to someone you trust, or simply take a deep breath and say, “I’m feeling anxious, and that’s okay.”
- Control What You Can, Release What You Can’t
One of the biggest sources of anxiety is focusing on things beyond our control. Instead, shift your focus to what you can control:
- Your thoughts and reactions
- Your daily habits and routines
- Your intake of news and social media
If something is out of your hands, try surrendering it—whether that means journaling, praying, or simply reminding yourself that worrying won’t change the outcome.
- Create a Calm Space
Your environment plays a big role in how you feel. Make your space a place of peace…You knew I was going there:
- Declutter and organize your surroundings
- Light a candle, play soothing music, or diffuse essential oils
- Designate a quiet spot for relaxation, prayer, or meditation
Even small changes can make a big difference in how you process stress.
When life gets hectic, self-care often takes a backseat. But taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. Try incorporating these practices into your daily routine:
- Deep breathing – Take slow, intentional breaths to calm your nervous system.
- Movement – A short walk, yoga, or stretching can help release tension.
- Healthy habits – Stay hydrated, eat nourishing foods, and get enough sleep.
- Take Time To Bathe – I know you bathe, but how often do you soak in a bathtub filled with scented bubbles? Relax in a candle-lit tub and release the world’s troubles.
- Set Boundaries with Media & Social Media
The constant flood of news and social media updates can fuel anxiety. It’s okay to step away. Try:
- Setting time limits on news consumption
- Unfollowing accounts that add stress
- Taking social media breaks when needed
- Take breaks from the news of the world as needed
Being informed is important, but so is protecting your peace. And remember my phrase of the year is “protecting my peace”
- Stay Connected
Anxiety thrives in isolation. Reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or support group. Sometimes, just talking about what’s on your mind can lighten the load. If you need extra support, don’t hesitate to seek professional guidance.
- Lean Into Faith & Gratitude
For many, faith is a source of comfort in uncertain times. Spend time in prayer, read scripture, or meditate on encouraging words. Gratitude also shifts our focus from fear to appreciation. Each day, try listing three things you’re grateful for, no matter how small.
I am also a Christian and I rely on my faith during times of discomfort of any kind. Anxiety may come, but it doesn’t have to control you. When you feel overwhelmed, run to God—He is your refuge, your peace, and your strength. The more you lean on Him, the more you’ll experience His unshakable peace that surpasses all understanding.
Below are a couple of my favorite bible verses.
- Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Hugs & Blessings,
