Inexpensive Ways to Decorate Your Kitchen for the Holidays

Divinely Organized – Inexpensive Ways to Decorate Your Kitchen for the Holidays

This is my last post focused on getting prepared for the upcoming holidays. After all, Christmas is next week. But I could not close out the year without a post on decorating on a dime. And since we have been organizing our kitchen area(s) for the past two weeks, I thought what better space to decorate on dime than an organized one. I did this myself in my own kitchen this year and I have enjoyed it immensely. So sorry there were no pictures of my personal space, but I promise to do better next year. Time just got away from me this year. But don’t fret, my BBs have pulled together a great list of ways to make your kitchen a great holiday gathering place without breaking the bank. Most of their suggestions can be created by simply shopping at the dollar store. Next year I promise to share more of my home during the holidays and to be better about taking pictures…that’s going on my vision board this year. So to each of you Merry Christmas with all my love. I look forward to beginning the new year with you getting our schedules, thoughts, visions, and spaces organized on a dime and beautified to the max. 🙂 Enjoy the article.

When it comes to decorating your home for the holidays, you probably put up a wreath, maybe some lights around your home, and probably a few items that hold memories and sentimental value. Those items will most likely be placed on your mantel or scattered around your living room, or perhaps in your dining room. But what about your kitchen? If you’re hosting any holiday parties or dinners, you want your kitchen not only to smell delicious but to look festive as well. Here are some quick, easy, and inexpensive ways to bring some holiday spirit to your kitchen.

Decorate Your Cabinets

Make the Dollar Store your best friend when it comes to decorating your kitchen on the cheap. Pick up festive wreaths and ribbon to decorate your cabinets. You can either use an upside-down Command Hook or painter’s tape on the inside of each cabinet to hang the wreaths.

Decorate with Wreaths

Nature is one of the best places to pick up free and festive decorations for your kitchen. Use mason jars, vases, or candle holders and fill them with a mixture of sprigs of spruce trees or pine trees, holly, acorns, red berries, and leaves. You’ll have a quick and easy way to decorate your counters, window sills, or shelves without spending any money. For an added bonus, use LED candles or fairy lights to create holiday luminaries.

Decorate the Windows

If you’re fortunate enough to have windows in your kitchen, use them to your advantage. Drape garland around your windows or put sprigs of spruce in tiny vases and line them along the window sill. You can make or buy marquee letters to spell out “joy” or use mini blocks and paint letters on them to spell out “happy holidays.” If you have quite a collection of coffee filters lying around your home, you can make your own snowflakes out of them to hang on your windows.

When In Doubt, Use Bows

Bows are a subtle and inexpensive way to decorate your kitchen for the holidays. You can make your own bows or buy them from the Dollar Store. They can be as simple or as ornate as you want. Bows can be hung on pendant lights, your fridge, your cabinets, even your coffee maker!

Decorate With Little Touches

Decorating your kitchen doesn’t have to be an expensive event. You can use items you already have and give them a festive facelift with some spray paint if you want. Turn your old colander into a candle holder with holly. Tie a red ribbon around your utensil holder. You can easily decorate your kitchen for the holidays without spending a ton of money.
