My Word Of Encouragement For 2019 – Consistency
This year I have decided to choose a keyword to help me to reach my goals for 2019. I have noticed many successful bloggers use a motivational word or phrase for each year to help them maneuver. So, I thought I would give it a try as well.

This year I have vowed to do a few things to organize my blogging and YouTubing life. I want to do it all but I must have a work-life balance because I am also involved in my church, my community and I love my family & friends. And because I love my family & friends, I like spending time with them. So I searched and searched and tried different words to go along with my desires for the year but the one that has resonated with me is “consistency.” I think that if I am consistent and can find a workable schedule and stick to it, I will have a better chance of remaining on task and reaching my goals while having time for a balanced lifestyle of work (9-5), work (my passion), family & friends.
I am also starting a journey of “consistent” affirmations. I have always dabbled with affirmations, but this year, I am committing to stop each morning and recite at least 5 affirmations while looking in the mirror. I want to tell the universe what I am expecting this year.
With that said, do know that I am also committing to spending more time with my gratitude journal. The way I envision it is prayer when I first wake up before my feet touch the floor, I will pray and commune with my God. After dressing and before I walk out of the door in the mornings, I will recite my five affirmations to get into the right frame of mind before facing the world. Each evening before saying goodnight to the world, I will, of course, say my prayers and then I will write in my gratitude. I will try to remember something that touched me during my day and write about it in my gratitude journal. I am going to try to write in this journal on a daily basis. At least for 5 days a week (Monday – Friday).

Creating and following a schedule consistently, is the best way to use all of your time as efficiently as possible. Working on a schedule helps you meet deadlines, keep appointments and remain focused on the task(s) at hand. But, following a schedule can be difficult – especially if you aren’t used to planning out your day. Here are some things to keep in mind while making and maintaining your schedule.
Make a To-Do List
The first thing to consider when setting up a schedule is knowing what you need to accomplish. Make a list of everything that you need to get done in a day, as well as a list of leisure activities or other things that you would like to do. Once you’ve made your lists, you can decide how much time you need for each activity and use this to develop a schedule. Schedule high-priority activities first and work everything else in around them.
I started this process just by brain dumping on a plain sheet of paper. I just listed all of the things I would like to complete each week as it pertains to my blog, my YouTube channel, my church commitments, my crafting time and my family/friend time. It was just a list of things in no particular order.
Use a Planner
Record all of your scheduled events in one organizational tool like a planner. You can use a physical copy or an app on your phone, but it’s important to use the same planner for all your scheduling. This ensures that all of your appointments and meetings will be in the same place and easily accessible and that no conflicting appointments are made. The simplified scheduling will keep you on track and relieve some of the stress associated with the scheduling process.
I choose to use a hard copy planner. I love my phone and I do use my calendar to sound off alarms but I have to have a planner to feel accomplished. If you would like to know which planner I’ve chosen for the past 4 years, just leave me a comment below.
Stay Realistic
Don’t plan out a schedule that you won’t be able to keep. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time between activities, especially if you have to travel from one to the other. Also, make sure you allow yourself breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge. Planning a schedule that is too busy will leave you feeling tired, and may affect your performance as well as your health. Not to mention, you probably will not stick to it and then you will feel like you did not accomplish anything when you may have simply over-booked yourself.
I never used to plan for working out or game night or movie nights with my husband but I am changing that. That time is extremely important as well merits scheduling.
Keep At It
Like any habit, good or bad, you have to keep at it in order to truly make it stick. The same applies to learning how to properly manage and maintain a workable schedule that you can “consistently” follow each day. The scheduling process will be less stressful and easier to follow through with each time you plan out your day. Persistence is key! “Consistency” is the goal.
Expect the Unexpected
More often than not, things don’t quite go according to plan. Don’t be stressed out if things don’t happen exactly like you were expecting them to. Be prepared to make adjustments to your schedule if the situation calls for it. If something comes up that you hadn’t scheduled for, simply adjust and do not beat yourself up about it. You’re human and those that matter will understand and those that don’t understand shouldn’t matter very much. Just pick yourself up and keep it moving. Get back on your schedule and do not worry or stress.
These are my tips for managing your time in 2019 After you’ve worked out and followed your own schedule, you can adapt your organizational style to suit your needs. Try out different methods or techniques to see which ones you like. There is no perfect method for scheduling, so you have to find the method and tool that works best for you.

*waving* Hi Carol, As always, I appreciate your positive feedback. Thank you.
I used to have a gratitude journal, but stopped writing in it. I should probably find it and write in it again. Maybe that would help me complain less (that’s my resolution for the year). I’m here from Thursday Favorite Things.
Yes! Consistency is a good one and planning out things that you need to get done is a great way to stay consistent!
Hi Brenda,
