Three DIY Decorative Pieces With A Large Impact
Although I love to paint/upcycle and restyle furniture, I also love being creative with smaller pieces. The projects below are upcycles/restyles using small pieces that are useful as well. They are Small DIYed Decorative Pieces With A Large Impact.

Candlesticks
I purchased the two candlesticks from the flea market. They were black. Actually, they were made of wood and were painted black. I thought they had a cute shape and let’s face it, two for $3.00 was a bargain. I didn’t like them with the black color so I painted them with Dixie Belle chalk paint to give them the modern farmhouse vibe.
I painted both candlesticks and also a mason jar I married to a candlestick for height. I had painted the jar in a soft green and used it on my dressing table, however, I lost interest in the green and decided to repaint it as well. You will see it later.
Finally, I distressed the candlesticks using a sandpaper block. I love the old look with the black peeking through the white paint.
Finally, the candlesticks are complete.
Coasters
They make a great gift or you can keep them for yourself. Everyone likes to add a personal touch to their homes. How subtle yet powerful than to place the drinks of your guests on a personalized coaster? Do you think they will notice? Of course, they will and they make a great conversation piece.
You can begin with tile, left-over pieces of granite, or inexpensive coasters you can pick up anywhere. I began with regular coasters I picked up at the Dollar Store.
I know a lot of folks love animal print. But this was just not my style, but I knew I could re-style them. And I did.
I chose a paint color and a coordinating napkin, and as they say, the rest is history.
You can personalize them any way you like.
Just a thought, but you could also decorate them seasonally.
And they make stylish gifts.
Soap, Lotion Dispenser With Matching Tray
This is not a restyle like the coasters. This is full-fledged upcycle. These sturdy pump bottles can be used for a number of things. Your favorite skin oil (coconut oil, vitamin E oil, etc) and/or your favorite lotion or soap. The matching tray is an added bonus. Use them together or separately.
These could be upcycled and personalized to your particular taste. It’s a cute little set that would look pretty on a bathroom or kitchen sink or on a vanity or dressing table.
This is the silver tray looked when I purchased it.
And now look at it. Fresh and ready for a new life.
It is so much fun to upcycle, restyle, and create and what makes it even more exciting is making personal. Two of these pieces will be uploaded to the c4 Boutique and available for purchase.
Until next time…I remain in my Element – God Bless!

Hi Victoria,
Thank you. It pays sometimes to see the diamond in the rough. 🙂
I am always afraid to distress things. I just can’t bring myself to scratch it up after I paint it. HA HA! But I love the look.
Hi Audrey, truth be told, it took me a very long time to be able to do that too. There is just something very special and satisfying about a freshly painted service. But then I fell in love with the farmhouse style and began with small items. 🙂
