From the Desk of Clearissa’s Command Center/The Real Life/Thankful Thursday
It’s thankful Thursday again and today I am thankful for the simple things. The simple things you ask? Yes you read it right. 🙂
Simple things like this gorgeous fall weather today here in NC. Simple things like the leaves changing into their fall colors. Simple things like snuggling into a comfy warm bed at the end of a long day. Simple things like mums blooming and pansies unfolding into carpets of color. Simple things like the laughter of a happy child. You know the type of laughter I am talking about. The laughter when they just can’t stop and it’s deep and they are simple weak with joy. That type of child’s laughter. The simple things like the cozy feeling of watching it rain or snow from inside your cozy home. The simple things are those things that seem to just happen and because they come and go so quietly, they are often ignored or taken for granted. We are usually so busy with living life until we often miss the important things that make this life worth living. I recently read a quote that resonated with me and it follows, “Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you will look back and realize they were the big things” author unknown. This quote touches the sweet spot of what should be appreciated on the daily. This quote reminds me of how the simple things become the best memories.
I still remember how special it felt to walk into my grand mom’s kitchen when she was baking a cake. The aromas coming from my grand mom’s kitchen still make my heart sing. That small memory and the way that one small thing made me feel, as a child, is still with me today. Small things really matter and they can remain with you for a lifetime.
Today I challenge you to slow it down and notice the little things that are going on around you. Make some lifetime memories just by noticing and appreciating the simple things in life. Notice the beauty that unfolds around you every day and it unfolds without you having to lift a finger. All you have to do is notice. I know it sounds small and perhaps insignificant; but I promise you that if you slow it down long enough to notice the small stuff…you will enjoy your journey today and perhaps you too will be grateful for the simple things.
Wishing you many simple things today,
