From The Desk of Clearissa Coward’s Command Center – Divinely Organized
Elusive Sleep-I May Have Found You – Diffuser!
I know I am supposed to add an organization post today; however, I have something much more important to share instead. I do not know about you but I sometimes have problems getting to and staying asleep. I have been suffering from this for a little while now and it was beginning to take its toll on my psychic and my health. I am not one who wants to pop pills every night so I have been simply struggling through it. When I say struggling through that is exactly what I mean. Because I wasn’t sleeping at night I was dozing off during the day. I started having difficulty staying focused and awake during meetings and while working at my desk. It was horrible! However, I really got scared when I started feeling sleepy while driving home from work. I needed help.
Of course, I went in to see my primary care physician and he wanted to put me on sleeping medications. Sorry but I simply was not feeling that. I mentioned my issues to a friend and she suggested an all-natural remedy. And so far, Hallelujah – for the past two weeks it has worked for me. So, I had to share this with you, just in case any of you guys are suffering the way I was, I had to share in hopes that I can help you the way my friend helped me.
My friend, Elisa, was having a similar issue. Not as severe as mine but none-the-less an issue and she tried a diffuser with essential oils. I was at the point where I would try almost anything (except nightly sleep aids). She mentioned the diffuser to me and I order one from Amazon that same afternoon. I was not feeling confident it would work but I was hopeful.
Along with my diffuser, I also ordered a variety pack of essential oils. And so far, it has been the best decision I have made in quite some time. I have been using it every night and I switch between the eucalyptus and lavender oils and I have been sleeping straight through every night. Unless you have experienced sleepless nights, you have no idea how the lack of sleep can affect you, but if you have experienced it, then you know how important it is to sleep. I am so relieved and I had to share it with you guys just in case I can help you.
The good thing is that diffusers come in a variety of styles and price ranges. That’s a good thing because I did not purchase an expensive one to try it out. Which means the investment was a very small one for the effect. The assortment of oils was not very expensive either. The oil assortment was $14.95 and the diffuser I purchased was $15.95. Not a bad investment for a good night’s sleep.
If you are a woman of a certain age and experiencing sleep issues or if you are simply a person suffering from insomnia, give this a try. It has certainly made a difference in my life. I am serious when I tell you that I was falling asleep behind the wheel on my way home from work. Dangerous for not only me but others on the road as well. Below is my diffuser sitting on my nightstand. I use it daily! I am a happy and well-rested camper. 🙂 Fingers crossed that it will continue to work.
Please let me know if you try this and if it helps you. Because I have suffered from the effects of the lack of sleep, I really want to know if this works for you. Lack of sleep has so many detrimental effects on the human body. We have to do what we can to ensure that we are resting well and easy. I just did not want to depend on sleep aids that could become addictive. This is perfect for me and I hope it helps you as well! Side note: I am also monitoring and increasing my steps as well. So get moving as well.

Thank You for Stopping By!
I have tried essential oils, the one for energy. My husband suffers from insomnia, and at times it’s really bad. He says I fall in like 30 seconds tops. I’m just so worn out, my hot bath does the trick. We will definitely give this a try to see if it helps him. Thanks love!!!
Great blog post and relevant to a discussion with a friend who can’t sleep – I will pass on the link.
I hope it helps your husband. I was really struggling with this. Also, tell him to take a hot shower before bed and to rub his the bottom of his feet with lavender oil as well and please let me know if it helps him. I know how difficult it is to get through a day without sleep the previous night. Did some research and it really affect one’s health as well. Keep me posted hon.
Hi Dorothy, I hope this helps your friend. Lack of sleep can truly become an issue. It affects every aspect of your life or at least it did mine. Please let me know if it helps your friend. I also suggest rubbing lavender oil on the bottom of her feet after a hot shower before bed as well. Thank you for stopping by. 🙂
You are so right, there is almost nothing worse than insomnia. I don’t have trouble sleeping often but when I do, it seems to become an issue for several days. I have a diffuser but have not thought of using it to treat sleeplessness. We live in El Paso, and I use mine to add humidity to our bedroom when we are suffering with sinus or allergy issues. Glad to have another use for it.
I love essential oils. I have a number of fragrances but don’t necessarily use them for a specific purpose. I did just buy a kit for housecleaning that is still in the box! Ha! Haven’t been able to get to my spring cleaning yet. But going to make that happen in July!
I would love to try this out, but essential oils can cause health problems for cats (I have two), especially when diffused (they can inhale them). However, I’ve been inspired by your post to seek out a pillow spray with essential oils. It would be safer for my kitties and better for me! I have really, REALLY bad sleep problems. I will try to remember to let you know if this works. 🙂
Hi Leslie, put that diffuser to work doing double duty girl!! Let me say it has been almost life altering for me. You never know how much you need sleep until you’re not getting it. 🙂 Take your time, you’ll get to that spring cleaning by fall. 🙂
Hi Amber, I hope the spray works for you and please do let me know if it helps you. Enjoy those kitties. 🙂
Interesting. Unfortunately, my husband hates the smell of lavender so I would need to find something that didn’t keep him awake from being annoyed. 😉
Yes, I had thought about getting a few of these as hubby and I have problems staying asleep – maybe I will purchase a few during Amazon’s Prime Day sale on the 11th.
Hi Antionette, I absolutely love mine…as you ca tell. I have to order another because now hubs wants one as well. Let me know if it works for you and your husband. Take care.
Thank you Clearissa for linking up and co-hosting with me at the #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I shared this post.
I use essential oils but have not tried for insomnia. Luckily I don’t have a problem most nights, though have an occasional sleepless night. I’m glad it worked for you and I’ll keep it in mind if I develop an issue.
Thanks Dee. I appreciate it and I am happy that we cohost together at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty.
Hi Molly, Lucky for you that you do not have issues with sleeplessness. You are blessed. However, essential oils are great for a number of things, allergies included. Thank you for stopping by!
What a great idea, Clarissa. On a recent post, many readers listed ‘getting to sleep…and staying asleep’ as a big hurdle.
Thank you for co-hosting, and for sharing this post #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty.
Hi Donna, I am happy if this helps anyone. I know what it’s like to not be able to sleep. Thank you for stopping by and it is my pleasure to co-host with you.
This sounds fascinating. I’m glad it worked for you. Thank you for linking up at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I’m sharing your link on social media.
Carol (“Mimi”) from Home with Mimi
Hi Carol, as always, thank you for stopping by.
I’ve just discovered essential oils and diffusers but not tried for sleeping yet. Thanks for the tip and also for co-hosting #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty. I’m sharing on social media. Have a great week!
Thank you for stopping by Sue. It has really been a life saver for me.
Clearissa, I have had increasing difficulties sleeping through the night as I get older too. I haven’t tried a diffuser, as my husband doesn’t like a lot of scents. I have started using lavender oil–breathing it from the bottle and put a drop on each foot at night. I can’t say for sure that it’s helped me sleep, but it is relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for cohosting #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty.

Hi Christie, I add lavender oil to my feet some nights as well. It is heaven. You could try the diffuser and perhaps only add a drop or two of the essential oil. But hey, if your hubs is allergic, you are doing the right thing. My husband is now asking for his own diffuser. Not gonna happen, because I think that may be too much fragrance. 😉
It’s great that you found a natural remedy that works for you and your post will help others with the same issues. #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty
Hi Lori, I was so over the moon about this and I only hope it will help someone. Thank you for stopping by.
I am very fortunate that I haven’t had problems with sleeping yet, but my husband certainly does. He can go to sleep, but doesn’t stay asleep. Sometimes he just gets up and goes in to work really early instead of just lying there. I need to try this for him. I’ll let you know if it works! Thank you for sharing it on the #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty!
Hi Teresa. Lack of sleep is the worst. I hope this works for your husband. Please keep me posted.
